Controlled Substance Policy

BY-LAW 16 - PHI SIGMA PHI NATIONAL FRATERNITY®, INC's. STATEMENT OF POSITION REGARDING CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES

The official Controlled Substance Policy for Phi Sigma Phi National Fraternity®, Inc. shall be as follows: Phi Sigma Phi National Fraternity®, Inc. will not condone, tolerate, promote, or accept in any form, the possession, sale, trade, use, or consumption of any illegal narcotic, or controlled substance, while on fraternity premises, or during any fraternity event, or during any fraternity sponsored event, or at any event or location that a casual observer would associate with Phi Sigma Phi National Fraternity®, Inc.

For definition, "Controlled Substances" shall be defined as "any drug or their substance, or immediate precursor, included in schedule I, II, III, IV, or V of Part B in Section 802 of Title 21 of the U.S. Code (Controlled Substance Act). The term "Controlled Substances" does not include distilled spirits, wine, malt beverages, or tobacco, as those terms are defined or used in subtitled E of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954.

This controlled substance policy shall be binding upon all Phi Sigma Phi National Fraternity®, Inc. chapters, colonies, and members of Phi Sigma Phi National Fraternity®, Inc.

In addition, Phi Sigma Phi National Fraternity®, Inc. encourages all Phi Sigma Phi National Fraternity®, Inc. chapters and colonies to adhere to the guidelines of the Fraternal Insurance Purchasing Group (F.I.P.G.), the National Interfraternity Conference (N.I.C.), and the Fraternal Executive's Association (F.E.A.), regarding controlled substances.
