BY-LAW 17 - PHI SIGMA PHI NATIONAL FRATERNITY®, INC's. STATEMENT OF POSITION REGARDING SEXUAL HARASSMENT/ASSAULTThe official Sexual Harassment/Assault Policy for Phi Sigma Phi National Fraternity®, Inc. shall be as follows: Phi Sigma Phi National Fraternity®, Inc. will not condone, tolerate, promote, or accept in any type or form, sexually abusive behavior on the part of its members, whether physical, mental, or emotional. This is to include actions which are demeaning and/or degrading, including but not limited to, verbal harassment, inappropriate physical contact, date rape, or gang rape.In addition, Phi Sigma Phi National Fraternity®, Inc. chapters, colonies, and membership will not sponsor or participate in any activity, including competitive games and other endeavors, which are abusive and degrading to human beings. Phi Sigma Phi National Fraternity®, Inc. will educate its membership on the issues of sexual harassment/assault through Phi Sigma Phi National Fraternity®, Inc's. National Risk Management Program. For definition, "verbal abuse" may include, but is not limited to: suggestive and/or insulting sounds; whistling; humor and/or jokes about sex or male/female specific traits; sexual innuendoes about personal or someone else's physical appearance; sexual innuendoes about personal or someone else's sexual activity; or demands for sexual actions accompanies by overt or implied threats. For definition, "physical abuse" may include, but is not limited to: obscene gestures; suggestive or inappropriate looks or staring; suggestive or inappropriate touching; patting, pinching, or other physical contact; brushing against another person's body; coerced physical or sexual contact; or assault. For definition, "sexual harassment" is defined as the unwelcome, unreciprocated imposition of sexual attention, usually in the context of a relationship of unequal power. For definition, "rape" is defined as an act of sexual penetration against a person's will. This sexual harassment/assault policy shall be binding upon all Phi Sigma Phi National Fraternity®, Inc. chapters, colonies, and members of Phi Sigma Phi National Fraternity®, Inc. In addition, Phi Sigma Phi National Fraternity®, Inc. encourages all Phi Sigma Phi National Fraternity®, Inc. chapters and colonies to adhere to the guidelines of the Fraternal Insurance Purchasing Group (F.I.P.G.), the National Interfraternity Conference (N.I.C.), and the Fraternal Executive's Association (F.E.A.), regarding sexual harassment/assault.
